Ritschard recognized for Adopt an Airman program with Compassion & Action award
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Chairman of the Adopt an Airman Wyo program, Carolyn Ritschard, was given the “Compassion & Action” award, for the program showing excellence for over a year.
“Carolyn has taken it from day one and made it her own, and all the credit goes to her,” Cheyenne mayor elect, Patrick Collins said. “She’s a rockstar, she’s done an amazing job of developing an idea into a great program.”
The program was approved back in February 2019, with their first match being in May 2019. Collins and Ritschard worked together for the Military Affairs Committee in 2016. It serves the purpose to give airmen and women a home off base, while giving them a chance to further explore their community. The program has 114 airmen matched with over 60 families.
Ritschard said that the feedback from families have been great, believing they’ve benefited from the program more than the airmen and women have.
“I feel very honored. I do feel like it’s a huge team effort that’s gone to having the ‘adopt an airman’ program,” Ritschard said. “Just the passion that the Cheyenne community has to support the military, in a very tangible hands-on way.”
They are still looking for host families to match with airmen before the holidays. Email firstname.lastname@example.org, to request an application for adopting an airman.
