CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Natrona County Department of Family Services typically hosts a large Christmas party every year with the Casper Police Department to celebrate foster families. Santa makes an appearance and delivers gifts to all of the foster children.

Jeanni Jones, a Casper foster parent, said it was an event that foster parents look forward to every year. “I know we were all a little bummed this year that we weren’t going to be able to get together,” said Jones.

Instead, the Department of Family Services and Casper PD decided to decorate their cars and have a parade for foster families. Jones said for them to do this was “neat and special.”

Santa was also a part of the parade. He delivered custom blankets and other items for the foster families.

Seth Wheeler, a Casper PD sergeant and new foster parent, said becoming a foster parent was something that he and his wife had wanted to do for years, so it was meaningful to see his coworkers support him like this.

“I used to participate with the DFS Christmas party every year, and it’s a different feeling being on this side of it,” said Wheeler.
