CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Firefighters across the state have answered the call for the many wildfires in Wyoming and Colorado this year. Cheyenne’s Best Western Plus Frontier Inn and Wyoming’s Rib and Chop house partnered to say thank you by donating dozens of gift cards to Laramie County Fire District #2.

“We just wanted to give these to the fire crews and the guys and girls that are working these fires, and make sure we pay their respects,” said BWPFI General Manager, Shannon McSweeny.

The gift cards were originally for the families that had to evacuate from the wildfires. But many were able to return home before they were given their gift cards. BWPFI and Rib and Chop House wanted to make sure the gift cards still went to a good cause, which is where LCFD #2 comes in. McSweeny said it’s important that the firefighters are represented and thanked for all their hard work.

LCFD #2′s Capt. Joshua Kourajian, said it means a lot to see how much support they have in the Cheyenne community.

“We can’t say thank you enough. How many times can we say thanks really, but always brings a smile to our face and I can just see it, especially all across our membership and all of our people, what it means,” said Kourajian.

LCFD 2 has helped with the Hanna Fire, Mullen Fire and Cameron Peak Fire. Kourajian said they have a crew that just returned a few days ago that are getting ready to head back down to help in the final efforts of putting out the Cameron Peak Fire.
