Casper small businesses are happy about holiday shopping turnout
Small Business Saturday made several Casper business owners happy this past weekend.
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Black Friday weekend is one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year, and this year Small Business Saturday was the next day. Small Business Saturday is an opportunity to support small businesses and communities across the country.
Several small businesses in Casper were happy about the turnout this year. Brandon Schulte, the store manager at Sonic Rainbow, a local record store, was thrilled about their turnout.
“It’s always nice to see people and be around our friends and the people we love so much, and our great customers are the reason why we keep the doors open and why we stay in business,” said Schulte. “It was also really kind of nice that people were quick, people were respectful of the rules, and so we got to see people, even if it wasn’t for super long stretches of time.”
Other store owners were just as happy to see people out and about shopping and browsing local stores.
“Everyone was super happy all weekend,” said Calley Hobza, owner of Cadillac Cowgirl, which is a local women’s boutique. “Just coming in, even if they weren’t buying stuff, and seeing what’s around. Lots of people were dressed up in holiday outfits and fun shirts. It was just really exciting seeing everyone’s smiling faces.”
Small Business Saturday gives shops and customers an opportunity to connect face to face. This is the kind of thing that some small business love to be able to do.
“I really look it as an opportunity to to hopefully get in front of a customer that hasn’t been in our store, and actually see the variety of products that we have,” said Rocky Mountain Discount Sports Casper General Manger Brian Woodward. “A lot of people seem to drive by and seem to think that we are ball sports and athletics.”
Rocky Mountain Discount Sports has a wide variety of hunting and fishing gear. They also do everything they can to provide for customer needs.”
“We do everything that we can to help people find stuff, and we’ll take special requests,” said Woodward. “I’ll do everything I can to hunt something down for a customer to keep that money local.”
Shopping locally has many benefits. Some of the most important benefits for customers are the ability to find unique products and receive better customer service.
There is also the opportunity to support neighbors and the local economy through purchases and tax dollars generated from those purchases.
