CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - For the second year in a row, the Elks Lodge of Cheyenne serves free dinner to people in Cheyenne. They decided to serve traditional Thanksgiving dinners that the lodge prepared themselves. The dinners are located at the Eagles Lodge on 16th street and Thomes ave in downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming.

“We need to give back to our community, that’s all that’s to it,” Four-year trustee of the Elks Lodge, Robert Loghry said. “People are struggling, they don’t know where their next meal is coming from. If we can help them then we’ve got to, that’s what we’ve got to do, that’s what Cheyenne people do.”

People also have the choice to order the food to-go if they do not want to eat inside. The Elks Lodge also delivered the food to first responders, including 911 dispatch, for working on the holiday.

“For those of us who can give it’s more important that we do give, because they’re a lot more who can’t,” President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Cheyenne, Wes Cure said. “We always do this, but it’s more important during a time when people are struggling that we make sure we maintain all the things that we can.”

They are scheduled to be serving dinners, until 3:00pm MT. However, if they still have food left over, they will continue to serve longer.
