CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - St.Mary’s Cathedral held their first ever Frozen Turkey Bowling tournament to raise donations to St. Joseph’s Food Pantry. Families showed up with food items to bring in addition with a turkey they were required to donate to the pantry.

“We’re just trying to get our youth involved to something sparatic as throwing Turkeys and Bowling,” St. Mary’s Cathedral youth minister, Damion Aldana said. “It’s kind of a neat thing to get them curious and get them to our youth ministry.”

The children believed the idea of a Frozen Turkey Bowling tournament is not only a fun way to spend their time, but a call to action for the community to give back to the less fortunate.

“It’s great and probably a fun way to get more people donating food to charity than they normally would because they’re also bowling with turkeys,” St. Mary’s Cathedral member, Brayden Neville said.

St. Mary’s wanted to pass down the lesson of giving to the younger generation because they believe that giving is the purpose of the holiday season. They hope to make the Frozen Turkey Bowling tournament an annual affair.
