CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After this week’s mandatory off-period between fall and winter sports, high school basketball practices begin on Monday

This season (and winter) promises to be a tumultuous one with the on-going pandemic.

Therefore, one local coach is going to preach to his players to only worry about the things you can personally manage.

“We’re going to have to deal with whatever is on the horizon, but focus on what we can control,” Central Boy’s Basketball Head Coach Tagg Lain said. “We know we’re going to have practice Monday morning and Monday after school and we are going to get our season started.”

One of the things that the Central coaching staff can control, is how practice will be conducted.

It will involve creating a physical space between teams to lower the risk of virus exposure.

“We’re going to have to do some things to create separation between groups of teams [like JV, Varsity, etc.],” Lain said. “So, we’re going to kind of build pods, as much as anything else, where we don’t cross-pollinate.”

Basketball, wrestling, and alpine skiing teams are all allowed to begin practice on Monday. It will be a short week, with the Thanksgiving break taking place just a few days into the week.
