CATC and The Bus to Require Masks for All Riders
CASPER, Wyo. (Release) - Beginning Tuesday, November 17, 2020 and for the foreseeable future, all riders will be required to wear a mask to utilize transit services. “In order to make our public transportation system safe for those who need it, CATC and the City of Casper will be requiring masks for all users,” said Jeremy Yates, Metropolitan Planning Organization Supervisor. All drivers and CATC staff have been utilizing masks since March.
Of the mask requirement, CATC Executive Director, John Jones, said, “after reviewing statewide statistics on this pandemic, I feel very strongly that CATC and The Bus should move from the mask recommendation on transit to a mask requirement. My focus right now is to keep drivers and staff healthy so that we can continue our mission to provide necessary transportation services to all the essential workers who need those services and to our residents throughout the area who have no other means to get to necessary appointments and make trips for essential needs.” Jones went on to state that CATC and the Bus belong to the only fully functioning transit system in Wyoming. CATC and The Bus will have a supply of masks available for transit users, however officials cautioned that the supplies are limited. "We encourage transit riders to bring their own masks and continue practicing social distancing on buses and at bus stops.
