What would winning a football state championship mean to you?
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - When you think of how many people have played high school sports, it is easy realize that the number of them who have actually won a state championship is infinitesimally small.
It is dream for many high school athletes to finish the season on top and now a group of young men have the opportunity to do just that on Saturday.
We asked five seniors what winning a state championship would mean to them.
Here are their answers:
“We’ve worked for this for so long. We worked our butt off all summer, worked our butt off the last two years and came up short. So, I think we’re super excited.”
-Graedyn Buell, Senior East QB
“Well, we haven’t won one in a long time. I think all the boys are really hyped up about it. We didn’t think we’d make it this far but we put in the work.”
-Dylan Dreiling, Senior Torrington OL/DL
“Not us so much as freshmen, but especially our seniors and our first couple classes that came through this program, they got a lot of crap for coming here. And it’d be really nice to just deliver that win and kind of seal everything off as a senior.”
-Michael Coleman, Senior Thunder Basin Middle Linebacker
“I think it’d be huge not only for ourselves, but for our coaches [with] all the time they put in. For kind of our families, if you’ve been playing since you were little, I think it’s super special to kind of end off, because in three days it’ll be our last time playing football.”
-Bradley Whitright, Senior East OL/DL
“High school football is a really big experience, I think and I’m very grateful I got to do it here. It would mean a lot to be able to give back to the program that kind of made me enjoy the last four years of my life so much.”
-Jaxon Pikula, Senior Thunder Basin RB
