CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - County health officers wrote a letter to Governor Gordon, in regards to a Mask Mandate for multiple counties in Wyoming.

“The things to watch for are hospital capacity, how businesses are doing in terms of keeping their employees safe. The thing that will close a business is not the health department order, what will close a business is if their employees get sick,” Laramie County Health Officer, Stan Hartman said.

The County Health Department says with the support of the Wyoming Medical Society and Wyoming Hospital Association the letter expresses the desire for a statewide mask mandate to help stem the spread of COVID-19.

What we now know Governor Gordon says a decision on the mask mandate is coming in the following days. Dr. Stan Hartman, told our reporter a body of county Wyoming County Health officers want to loan support to the Governor in his decision making.

“This is what we need to do as a community to keep business open, to keep people out of the hospital and to keep schools open and the things that we want.”

Under the current orders, businesses will be required to make their employees wear masks and encourage patrons to do the same.
