CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - According to the CDC, Wyoming ranks third among the lowest states in the U.S. when it comes to flu vaccination rates. In the last three year, Wyoming’s flu vaccination rate was 41.1 percent in 2017, up to 47.3 percent in 2019-2020. However, it is still below the national average which is 51.8 percent.

CEO of Advisorsmith, Adrian Mak, says it would be beneficial for people to get the vaccine during the winter, while there is not a widely available vaccine for COVID-19.

“That will be helpful as the coronavirus pandemic continues to reduce the amount of people that have flu,” Mak said.

The CDC recommends that people ages six months and older should get a flu shot. Mak believes with all the focus on the coronavirus, the flu vaccine test rates will increase in 2020.
