Natrona County Commissioners pass resolution for masks in county buildings
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The board of County commissioners in Natrona County passed a resolution requiring masks in county buildings.
Paul Bertoligo, the county commissioners vice chair, said this isn’t a preview for a mask mandate countywide.
“We are following the lead of the hospitals and the schools trying to protect our staff and do what we are required as elected officials— which is to keep up the function of our government,” Bertoligo said.
He added they don’t want to shut down essential services like marriage or driver’s licenses departments because staff have COVID-19 or have to quarantine from exposure.
They are currently delaying hearings on the Board of Equalization because of the virus. He said there would be no way to punish people for not wearing a mask and hopes people choose to wear one themselves.
“We hope people take it upon themselves and say maybe I don’t believe masks work but on the off chance I’m wrong I’m going to wear one,” Bertoligo said.
He adds he doesn’t like wearing one but he does it because health officials recommend it. Also, people are so caught up in a possible mask mandate they are forgetting about social distancing and washing hands frequently.
