CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
Wyoming is lit up like a Christmas tree this evening with different watches and warnings spreading through the state. The western part of Wyoming, Pink color, is under a Winter Storm Warning until Saturday at 11pm. This region is expecting 12-16 inches with locally higher amounts. The areas in the purple color are under a Winter Weather Advisory until Saturday at 11pm. The area is anticipated to receive 10-12 inches with locally higher amounts. The lighter yellow area is a High Wind Warning in effect until Saturday at 11pm with sustain winds from 30-40mph winds with gusts as high as 85mph. This will cause travel restriction going into Saturday. With high winds expected throughout the state blowing snow will be an issue resulting in reduced visibility likely near 0. Make sure to stay weather aware as we head into the weekend.
Saturday a cold front approaches the state bringing into Tropical Storm like winds with cooler temperatures. The cold front will also bring in some moisture to the region with isolated snow showers possible for the eastern half of Wyoming; however, the western part of the state and higher elevations will be seeing the best chance accumulations. The snow will make its way into the western half of the state by Friday night and continue slowly moving east Saturday.
