CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - If you’ve driven past a Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union the past few days, you have probably seen the hundreds of American Flag’s outside of it. The Meridian Trust North Star Foundation is hosting the first annual “Flags for Heroes" event.

“Whether it be veterans, military, police, teachers, healthcare workers, a grandparent. So just people who people consider a hero in our community,” said Meridian Trust North Star Foundation board member, Adele Gardner.

When you purchase a flag, your hero and your name will be put on a tag and placed on an American Flag at one of Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union’s three locations. Gardner said there are currently almost 500 American Flags flying. She said with everything going on this year, they want the flags to show the important people in your life, how special they are.

“We really wanted to kind of shine a light on those individuals and through all of what 2020 has brought us, we wanted to be a bright spot as people are driving by, and seeing us remembering how wonderful all of those heroes are,” said Gardner.

The “Flags for Heroes” event goes through Friday and the flags will be flown through Tuesday according to the website. For more information on the event you can click this link and for more information on the Meridian Trust North Star Foundation you can visit its website here.
