CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A Casper man’s car restoration videos on the social media platform, TikTok has led to the possibility of him opening up a local restoration shop and some natation-wide.

Joel McMillan, a TikTok and YouTube creator, got laid off from the oil field back in the spring. His wife inspired him to work on his 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle.

He decided to make a video on TikTok of his process of restoring it. He said the video blew up overnight.

“I didn’t expect to turn into what it is now where we are taking on investors and expanding into a shop,” McMillan said.

Since he saw success on Tik Tok, he expanded to YouTube where he could make his videos longer than 60 seconds.

He’s hoping to expand his car restoration to a shop outside of his own garage.

"We have the first set of investors already signed and we’re getting ready for more which will hopefully turn into opening up a shop in California and Texas.

This success from social media turned into a new career.

“It’s a possibility I won’t have to go back to the oil field. I can do my passion for a living,” McMillan said.

He adds that anyone that’s thought about creating content on social media platforms to do it now when lots of people are still at home.
