CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The road to the state championship for top-ranked Cheyenne East football will have to go through the defending state champions in the Sheridan Broncs in the high school football semifinals. Last time these two teams met was in week 4 where East won in a thriller, 16-14. The top-ranked T-Birds are coming off a dominate 49-7 win over Laramie, extending their win streak to nine. With a win against Sheridan, East would appear in their first state championship game, since 2013.

“We get there we’re gonna burn the ships is what I told them [East HS Football],” Cheyenne East head football coach, Chad Goff said. “We’re gonna get off those ships and go to battle.”

The Broncs are coming off a dominant win as well, beating Rock Springs in the first round, 35-6. Sheridan extended their win streak to four. If the Broncs beat the T-Birds, it will be their sixth consecutive trip to the state title game.

“We don’t have to tell people that it’s a big game, it’s a game to get into the state championship right?" Cheyenne East quarterback, Graedyn Buell said. "Everybody knows it, so we really don’t have to tell anybody. If we just act like we’ve acted the last nine weeks and play our style football, we’ll be successful.”

The game will take place at Okie Blanchard Stadium at East High School on Friday, November 6. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm MT.
