Cowboys Fall at Colorado State in the 112th edition of the Border War, 34-24
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (RELEASE) - The 112th edition of the Border War and the 53rd battle for the Bronze Boot had the Wyoming Cowboys and Colorado State Rams meet in Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo., for a Thursday night matchup.
The Cowboys fell behind 17-0 due to a pair of first quarter turnovers, which they weren’t able to overcome in the 24-34 defeat. The Cowboys posted three rushing touchdowns, with Xazavian Valladay, Trey Smith and Levi Williams each scoring one respectively. The Cowboys outgained the Rams 465 yards to 342 with 144 yards coming on the ground with Valladay posting a game high 147 yards.
It was CSU’s first win in five meetings, as they narrow the Bronze Boot series gap, 28-25, which Wyoming still leads. The Cowboys fall to 1-2 on the season, as they are slated to take on Air Force next Saturday at War Memorial Stadium at 8 p.m.
