LANDER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

The City of Lander has been working on zoning code changes. Originally the proposed changes were to bring in additional dwelling units on a private lot, or cottage clusters, which is a multi-family unit on a single lot. The revised version of the changes to be on the next city council agenda, only includes some lot size changes, and allowing for short term rentals like Airbnb rentals that are in place in Lander.

The public voiced their concerns at various work sessions, one of them being diminished property value. Assistant Mayor of Lander RaJean Strube Fossen stated, “Many of our comments were related to lowering property values should the zones pass. We haven’t found that to be true. We could talk more to the county assessor and see how property values are assessed. At this point in time, it would take a very, very long process of assessing and reassessing for the values in your neighborhood to change, either up or down.” Fossen stated that the city is thankful for public comment, both positive and negative.

The city council meeting for voting on the zoning changes is set for November 10th at 6 p.m. at the Lander Community and Convention Center.
