CHEYENNE, Wyo. (RELEASE) - The Veterans Day Ceremony, normally held each year at American Legion Post 6, has been modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of an abundance of caution, the leadership of American Legion Post 6, has made the decision not to host a public event, but rather conduct a virtual livestream commemoration, honoring all of our nation’s veterans.

“Given the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, we still want to honor and thank all who have served in our military and want to convey to them, and their families, our appreciation for their unwavering sacrifices,” said William Barnes, Commander of American Legion Post 6. “Part of our responsibilities of caring for veterans is to ensure we don’t put them in harm’s way, in any capacity. Planning for an event of this size is difficult even in the best of times, and given the current uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, we believe the best option is to ensure the safety of the hundreds of people who typically attend."

A virtual livestream will be broadcast on 11 November 2020, at 1100hrs, and can be viewed on the American Legion Post 6 Facebook page. A detailed sequence of events will be published no later than Monday, 9 November 2020.
