CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Sam Weaver passed away due to surgery complications in 2018, but his organ and tissue donations helped save the lives of many others. Donor Alliance, an organ and tissue donation non-profit organization, decided to honor Weaver by including his portrait on their Rose Parade float this year.

The float has a representative from all 50 states, and Weaver will represent Wyoming. While the traditional Rose Parade is unable to happen this year, it will still have its usual pomp and circumstance in a new, virtual format that will be nationally televised from Pasadena, California.

Monday, his family and friends put the finishing touches on his floral memorial portrait that will ride on Donor Alliance’s float in this year’s parade at the Conwell Park gazebo. His portrait includes a signature and steel blue eyes.

Laurie Weaver, Sam’s wife, said that she has become an advocate for organ donation after seeing what her husband was able to provide.

“It just means so much to me and my family. It’s amazing the gift that Sam was able to give. He saved so many lives,” said Weaver.
