RIVERTON, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

A gym in Riverton is hosting a Pump-King Power-Lifting competition tomorrow, but you don’t have to lift heavy to enjoy. People are welcome to wear a costume and simply be a spectator at the event. Prizes will be given for the heaviest lifting, as well as the best costume.

Tricks, Treats, and deadlifts. Teton Athletic Club is combining a weightlifting and fitness competition with a little bit of Halloween fun.

“My favorite part would be probably the dressing up, it’s fun to see how creative people can get. People also get really, really into it, and they’re super supportive. It’s more of a competition against yourself and not of each other, it’s just really nice to have that comradery here,” noted Kelsie Wells, competitor at the event.

This will be Kelsie’s 3rd year competing. Last year she made it into the 500 pound club. Part of the competition at the gym as well as at the event is the 500 pound club for women, and the 1000 pound club for men. If you complete the task, you make it onto the Teton Iron Club wall, and get a shirt only given to those club members. She noted that you don’t always know what you’re capable of until you have to compete in front of others. “I wasn’t expecting to, so it was a really nice surprise. Once again, it just makes me want to be able to erase that and go higher, so it’s a good motivator for sure,” added Wells.

Teton has been holding the event for three years, and in the past they’re had more registrants, but this year they’re at 15 so far, so they are allowing people to register until tomorrow morning. “Every year people get more creative and we have a really good time. Every power lifting meet, we always donate the proceeds somewhere. This year we haven’t decided what we’re going to do, but there are a few people in our community that are fighting cancer, so I think we’re going to donate to those families.”

The event starts tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. at 911 flag drive in Riverton.
