WalletHub ranks Cheyenne 13th best city regarding unemployment recovery in the month of September

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With some states easing restrictions since the beginning of the pandemic, major cities are seeing a decrease in unemployment rates. According to the WalletHub Q & A, Cheyenne is ranked the 13th best city regarding unemployment in September 2020. The recovery rate from January 2020 through September is 28.74%.

“As time has gone on, a lot of those businesses have reopened," Communication Manager of the Department of Workforce Services, Ty Stockton said. "Quite a few people have returned to work, some with the same businesses that they were with before, others may have changed jobs, but were definitely seeing a decrease in unemployment.”

The official unemployment rate is 5.20%, which ranks 18th among the United States. However, the national unemployment rate has fallen to 7.9%, which is 46% below the peak of the pandemic, at 14.7%. Lincoln, Nebraska ranks first with an unemployment percentage of 3.2%.
