CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Sometimes a loss can be a very valuable experience for a football team.

East Football’s lone defeat this season came in a Week 1 loss to Thunder Basin.

“We had that setback in that in Week 1 but I think it taught them a lot," East Head Coach Chad Goff said. "Week 2 was a close game, [and that] again taught them a lot. And I think they just built on those weeks and built on every week since then.”

Since then, this year has been an amazing success for the T-Birds.

The team is the top-seeded squad in 4A heading into Friday’s State Quarterfinals versus Laramie.

Therefore, it appears those struggles early in the season were important to get them to where they are today.

“At first we knew we needed to improve," East Senior Jaret Taylor said. “Just keep improving every week, that’s what we’ve been doing.”

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Okie Blanchard Stadium.
