CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Press release) - The following is a press release from Laramie County School District 1 on the latest COVID-19 case in one of our local schools:

At Laramie County School District 1, one of our goals is to operate in a way that is safe for our students and employees.

In conjunction with the Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department (CLCHD), LCSD1 has numerous protocols in place that support this endeavor. However, due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19 exposure can happen.

CLCHD has notified the district that a student at Johnson Junior High has tested positive for COVID-19.

After conducting contact tracing, CLCHD has quarantined 13 Johnson students. A majority of students and staff members wore face coverings consistently when they were around this individual, which kept quarantine numbers lower.

Parents, students and staff are encouraged to watch for possible symptoms, stay home if they are ill and visit their health care provider as necessary. Free COVID-19 testing is available through the CLCHD.
