City’s Street Department prepares vehicles for winter
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - There weren’t any cattle or horses involved, but the Cheyenne Street Department had its “Snow Rodeo” this morning.
Most of the city’s snow vehicles have not been used since Cheyenne’s last winter storm, and the vehicles are used for different operations during the spring and summer.
The “Snow Rodeo" gives the department time to make sure everything is ready to go as Cheyenne prepares for winter.
“It’s our chance now that the sun is shining, to mount the equipment, make sure that there’s no issues running the equipment, so when we do actually get snow, it’s ready to go at the onset of that, and not have things broken that need to be repaired. We take the time to do that now, rather than later,” said Cheyenne Streets and Alley Division Supervisor, Bill Gonzales.
Gonzales also reminded residents to be patient and drive cautiously around snow vehicles, because they are only there to help and keep the city’s roads safe.
