Toys for Tots Kickoff Fundraising Dinner in Cheyenne
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With Halloween just around the corner, Christmas will be at our doors before we know it. To get ready for the Season of Giving, Laramie County Toys for Tots will be holding a kickoff benefit this Friday, October 2nd at 6 p.m.
The Toys for Tots Kickoff Fundraising Dinner will take at the VFW Post 1881 on 2816 East 7th Street in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Laramie County Toys for Tots Coordinator Wendi Henderson says this year donations are even more important for the families and children of Laramie County.
“I think the pandemic has kind of made it rough on a lot of families. We’re not here for anything but to make sure that every child has a good Christmas...I think it’s very important that we take care of our own community and everything that we collect here stays here.”
Yes, that’s right, all monetary donations and new unwrapped toys will only be distributed to those in need in Laramie County.
When you donate this Friday, you will get a free Sloppy Joe and Nacho dinner at the fundraiser. There will also be a live auction and raffles.
Henderson says in 2019 they distributed just under 12,000 toys and 1,500 books to about 1,600 children, and this year she thinks there will be more.
“So, this year because of the Covid and because of all the craziness in our world, I think our numbers are going to be way up this year. So, we are asking the community, if you can, to please come and support our campaign.”
The event is sponsored by Wyoming Fleet Reserve Association Branch and Unit 59.
