NCSD extends free meal program until December 31
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -The USDA is expanding its free summer meal program until the end of December. The Natrona County School District hopes this will help families in need.
Mike Pyska, the food services director, said a well-fed kid helps their education.
“They learn more so it takes the stress away from families figuring out how to pay for breakfast and lunches for their students,” said Mike Pyska.
He adds there are about 6,500 students on this program now and they are hoping to get more because it is available to all students. It also helps the district qualify for other funds.
“It helps the district get additional grants through Title I and other grants based upon the free and redacted numbers,” Pyska said.
After Dec. 31, parents have to apply to get on the free and reduced program. Parents can find the form on their website, nchttps://natronaschools.org/ or they have forms available at the schools.
