CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

The Natrona County Mustangs got their first win of the season last week against Laramie. The Mustangs held the Plainsmen 41-0 at half and in the end came out on top 48-21.

“We got started fast, didn’t turn the ball over at all, and I think didn’t give up any big plays on defense, made a nice play on special teams as well and gave them short field, so yeah thought our guys did a really nice job." said head coach Steve Harshman.

The Mustangs are playing their 4th game of the season so far at their rivals Kelly Walsh for the Oil Bowl on Friday. They go into this game with a record of 1-2. Their first two losses came from Central and East. Coach Harshman says if his team can continue to grow and stay healthy, they will really have a high ceiling and just get better and better.

"I think we are improving really in every aspect but I think our whole offensive execution is getting better, and our timing and all that, usually that takes a little longer, but I think we are just coming, we are figuring out what we can do and really focusing on that, you know just trying to get better everyday. Now they’ll travel to their cross-town rivals Kelly Walsh on Friday for the Oil Bowl. Kick-off for the game is at 6 p.m.
