CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne City Council says there are issues with the Cheyenne Splash Pad and the city may not be paying for it until it’s fixed.

At a meeting earlier this week, the council discussed withholding the final payment to Vortex, the company constructing the aquatic play area, until the pad is functioning properly.

Officials are citing multiple issues, including a malfunctioning UV Light system meant to sanitize the water.

Ward II Councilman Doctor Mark Rinne says of the half-million-dollar contract with Vortex, there is over one hundred and forty-three thousand dollars left to be paid and he hopes they can fix the problems.

“I’m hoping that they can resolve the issues. I’m only speaking for myself but I don’t think I would vote to release all the funds until our staff says they are satisfied with the progress.”

Dr. Rinne concluded that they all are hoping to have these issues resolved before winter hits.
