Annual Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo to be held at Frontier Park
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Laramie County Community College (LCCC) partnered with CFD for the annual Shawn Dubie Memorial to be held at Frontier Park in 2020.
“I’m really excited the arena at Frontier Park is unreal, it’s unlike any arena anybody gets to compete in,” Sophomore athlete, Riley Reiss said. “There’s just a different vibe in the arena, it’s awesome.”
After having their season cut last spring due to COVID-19, the LCCC rodeo team returned to action last week at the Chadron State Rodeo.
“Its great to have the students back on campus," Head coach of LCCC rodeo, Seth Glause said. "We’re out practicing, kind of feels a little bit more like normal to be out doing our thing.”
The Golden Eagles had a strong showing opening weekend, with freshman Stefan Tonita finishing first in the Bull Riding, and Dylan Rice finishing in the top three. Reiss finished first in the Steer Wrestling, while Cauy Pokorny finished in third place. Freshman Briggs Madsen earned sixth place in the Saddle Bronc while Garrett Long finished in eighth. In the women’s all-arond, Ashley Odenbach finished in third place after the Breakaway and Barrell Racing.
