CHEYENNE, Wyo. (PRESS RELEASE) - Congratulations to the student-athletes and coaches who were celebrated as part of the 12th Annual Middle-Level Sportsmanship Champions Awards. Each year two 7th grade students and one coach from each Middle-Level school are nominated for this award.

These student-athletes exemplify outstanding sportsmanship by participating in academic activities and athletic sports while being leaders in the classroom throughout the 2019-20 school year.

The celebration was scheduled to be held last academic year to celebrate these students but was postponed due to COVID19. The NCSD Athletics and Activities Department worked to organize a socially distanced, limited attendance, celebration today to honor these student-athletes as well as their families, coaches, and the administrators who support and encourage them in their academic and athletic endeavors while following public health orders.

During the presentation, the coaches reiterated, supported, and congratulated the words and actions of the students - speaking highly of their academic prowess and commending them on their leadership skills.

These student leaders, in their respective schools, have earned respect from their peers and are not afraid to speak up when a situation demands attention. They lead by example in sports, activities, and academics.

The recognition the students and coaches receive at the Sportsmanship Champions Awards celebrates the characteristics they will call upon many times in their journey through life in overcoming adversity and in graciously sharing their success.

Each student-athlete shared their reflections on what good sportsmanship means to them and provided an inspirational sportsmanship quote to be written on their individual sportsmanship poster. These posters are displayed at their respective school.

*The student-athlete group photos were taken individually to ensure social distancing and safety measures were in place.

A special thank you to the NCSD Athletics & Activities Department for their dedicated commitment to ensuring the continued celebration of these students and coaches!
