CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

‘Make A Wish’ let another child’s dream come true in Wyoming, this time in Riverton.

“When we were in Salt Lake and we got her ported and we found out she had cancer, the caseworker up there actually signed us up for ‘Make A Wish.’ We didn’t even know we were being signed up for it. We went down there for consultation, just what’s going on, and we were in surgery within two hours. So it was kind of a full day,” stated Gracie’s dad, John Shyne.

While at the hospital, Gracie was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, which is a set of complex genetic disorders that affect almost every organ system, causing tumors to grow on nerves in the brain and throughout the body. When the family arrived back home from the hospital to Riverton, ‘Make A Wish’ contacted them.

“At first we were going to go on a Disney cruise, but then due to COVID, they asked us what else her second guess would be. I said ‘I don’t know, why don’t you just come over here and talk to her,’ and Gracie said something about a playhouse.”

For this family in Fremont County, this playhouse turned one little girl’s wish into a reality.

Gracie and the ‘Make a Wish’ consultant picked out a playhouse, and Shane with Skid Structures in Riverton was contacted to build it. John said he’s very thankful that Shane allowed them to request and add personal touches to the playhouse.

Shane Dickinson, owner of Skid Structures stated, “That playhouse was absolutely the most rewarding job I’ve ever done. It was amazing to see how happy Gracie and her family were about it.”

“The cruise would have been nice, but this is something she can use for a long period. It’s five feet inside; she can use that for a play area or whatever for a long time. This is something that’s going to last years compared to where it’d only last two weeks,” noted John Shyne.

When Gracie was asked her favorite part about the playhouse, one word summed it up when she excitedly said,

“Pink!”

Gracie’s dad insulated the playhouse so she can continue enjoying it through the Wyoming winter.
