Knights of Columbus awarded $65,000 to Abba’s House today
FREMONT COUNTY, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
The Knights of Columbus councils of Fremont county saved and raised money for two years to award money to another Fremont County nonprofit organization today.
“I’m very excited to be here to do this. This has all been quite humbling to see how many people that support Abba’s house, and support this ultrasound mobile unit that we’ve been working on,” emphasized Jeff Schieffer of the Knights of Columbus.
The Knights of Columbus council of Riverton awarded $65,000 today to Abba’s house pregnancy medical clinic for their mobile pregnancy care unit.
They also got assistance from the Lander and Thermopolis councils in the fundraising. Two years were spent raising money, with much of it earned through a chili cook-off.
The funds will be used for a custom-built Ford van that will be a mobile medical unit. It will travel to areas of Fremont county for people to receive free pregnancy and medical resources.
Kimberly Hummel, President of the Board of Directors of Abba’s House stated, “They’ve been wonderful to us and this completes our purchase of our mobile unit. We can go out and offer our services and tell everybody what we’re about, and we can do free ultrasounds right on the spot. We’ll announce that we’re coming into a community and try to get more people to come and see, and we can do all the other testing that they might need.”
The Supreme Council of Knights of Columbus is going to add to the contributions made today to purchase the ultrasound machine that will ride in the mobile care unit van.
