Another Hot and Sunny Weekend Ahead
August 14th, 2020
As the week comes to a close, fire weather remains a threat for Wyoming, especially for the southern half of the state on Friday where breezy conditions are expected along the I-80 corridor. The NWS has issued Red Flag Warnings for the southern half of Wyoming today that are set to expire at 8PM MDT tonight. There’s a good chance we won’t see any Red Flag warnings this weekend because calmer winds are expected after a breezy week, however burning anything outside is still not suggested due to the extensive drought conditions around the state.
This is a great weekend to get outside, however, especially if you enjoy pastimes such as fishing. Storms are going to be very unlikely this weekend, and for Friday high temperatures won’t be eclipsing 90 degrees anywhere in the state. The 90s will return to Wyoming beginning Saturday, and we could start to see a few more clouds build in come Sunday.
UV indices are still high for this weekend, so anybody who has plans to be outdoors for an extended period of time should keep that bottle of sunblock handy. Some extra bottles of water are also recommended to stay hydrated.
Rain chances do not look to increase very much until the middle of next week, and even then it’s just the potential for scattered storms that pops up. Wyoming needs some widespread rain, and as of now it seems like it could be a long while before that happens.
