Scorching Temperatures to Start the Week

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

The haze will slowly start to move out of the area on Tuesday. Overnight our lows around the state will be in the upper 50s and 60s. For Cheyenne we will bottom out at 61 degrees with areas of smoke and partly cloudy skies. In Casper the low will be 63 degrees with patches of smoke and partly cloudy skies.

For Tuesday a system moves through the state bringing hot temperatures, strong to severe storms, and some breezy conditions. Cheyenne will top out of 93 degrees, while Casper will top out at 95 degrees. The northern part of the state will be under a marginal risk, level 1 out of 5. The main impacts will be gusty winds, small hail, and lots of lighting. The storms will start to fire up in the afternoon moving eastward.

We will be watching the western parts of the state for any dry thunderstorm activity. These storms produce little to no rain which if lightning strikes could cause a wildfire.
