ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After shutting the Casper Oilers in their first game in the Wyoming Class AA baseball state tournament, The Cheyenne Sixers 18U earned their second consecutive shutout win as they defeated top-seeded Evanston, 14-0.
Cheyenne started the contest out strong, scoring three runs in the first inning. They would add to that in the fourth and fifth inning, scoring a total of 11 runs in the two innings. The Sixers recorded a total of 11 hits, with Andrew Johnson, Zack Costopoulos, Julian Romero, and Jackson Hesford each had multiple hits. Costopoulos and Bradley Feezer each hit home runs.
The Sixers rotated through three pitchers throughout the game with Garrett Oswald taking the majority of the pitching duties. Trenton Rodriguez and Ty Lobmeyer also pitch during the contest.
“I just came out and really wanted to go right at them and attack them because I know my stuff and our defense could beat them as long as I just go right at them,” Oswald said. “They had nothing special against us, we just went right at them and took it right to them.”
Post 6 will play against Gillette on August 7, 2020 for their third game of the tournament at 7:00pm.
