David Street Station to close Thursday night, reopen Friday
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - David Street Station will close Thursday at 4 p.m. to prevent 20-30 teenagers from fighting at the facility.
“There have been what’s been dubbed ‘fight night’ for the last five-to-six weeks every Thursday night. And we’ve been down here and trying to get a handle on it and we just don’t have the resources,” Casper Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Kevin Hawley said.
He said most teens have behaved at David Street Station.
The 20-30 who start fights ignore David Street Station staff and Casper Police.
Hawley said staff has been approached by mothers saying they don’t feel safe bringing their families to the facility during these “fight nights.”
Casper Police will guard the area and will enforce trespassing laws if people decide to go to David Street Station Thursday night.
“The facility will be closed down, the Splash Pad will be turned off and anyone who wants to come in and kind of play games and show that they’re tough, they’ll be issued a trespass citation,” Hawley said.
David Street Station will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.
Hawley said he’s not sure how many weeks it will be closed on Thursday nights.
