CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center and Fort Caspar have partnered for months to bring local history to the community. This weekend, the Hands on History Club is showing people the trails.

The “Would You Rather Trail Trek Adventure” will go from Bessemer Bend all the way to Independence Rock. Families will follow along in their cars and also have walkie-talkies to communicate with educators.

The trip will pass historical landmarks and show people what it was like to be a pioneer passing through in the mid 1800′s. With many events being canceled or held virtually across the world, NHTIC education technician, Stacey Moore, said it means a lot to be able to have it in person and safely.

“It means a lot to be able to get families out on the actual trails and to do so in the manner that’s safe. Outside is a place we can be right now and going along the historic trails, there’s not a lot of people out there,” said Moore.

Moore said the current trip is fully booked but anyone can stop by NHTIC, grab a guide and do it on their own. She also said they will hold it virtually on August 15. For more information about the Hands on History Club, you can visit its website here.
