Bridge maintenance underway at multiple locations throughout Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Release) - Bridge maintenance work will be taking place over the next few weeks at multiple locations throughout the Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests. Most work will have no impact to Forest visitors, however in some locations where planks are being replaced, there may be minor travel delays.

A total of 31 bridges that are part of the National Forest road system are receiving various levels of maintenance, including upgrades to signage, markers, planks, and brush clearing. Of that total, 13 need plank replacement work, which could briefly impact travel. When delays or detours are necessary, the contractor will place signage on Forest roads to advise travelers.

Plank replacement will occur in Albany and Carbon counties in Wyoming, as well as Jackson County in Colorado. Specific roads and bridge locations are listed below:  

Albany County

Forest Road 101, mile marker 13.25, North Fork Rock Creek

Forest Road 338, mile marker 14.0, Douglas Creek

Forest Road 509, mile marker 2.5, Lake Creek

Carbon County

Forest Road 100, mile marker 14.9, Turpin Creek

Forest Road 206, mile marker 1.7, South French Creek (lower)

Forest Road 236, mile marker 2.8, South French Creek

Forest Road 241, mile marker 0.1, North Brush Creek

Forest Road 443, mile marker 6.94, South Spring Creek

Forest Road 452, mile marker 11.38, North Spring Creek

Forest Road 500, mile marker 19.16, North Mullen Creek

Forest Road 500, mile marker 26.0, French Creek

Jackson County

Forest Road 770.1, mile marker 0.1, South Fork Michigan River

Forest Road 780.1, mile marker 0.1, South Fork Michigan River

Please respect the contractor and their equipment as they conduct this important infrastructure maintenance.

The Forest Service would like to stress that motorized users must stay on designated routes and may not travel off-road. Those traveling through the National Forest should pay attention to signage and refer to Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM) for details. MVUMs are free and may be obtained digitally at https://www.avenza.com.
