Pleasant Weather Returns for the Weekend
July 30th, 2020
The past couple of days have seen widespread rain for Wyoming, however an area that desperately needed it in Casper did not receive much rain at all, recording under a tenth of an inch of rainfall between both days. Douglas and Buffalo both received close to half an inch between both days. The new drought monitor released this morning at 8:30 AM ET did not take into account the rain from the past couple of days, as data for the weekly monitor finishes collecting Tuesday morning each week. Casper is now under a level 4 “Extreme” drought along with Sheridan and Buffalo. Cheyenne remains under a level 1 “Abnormally Dry” drought level while Scottsbluff is nearing the level 3 “Severe” category.
As the week finishes and the rain moves out, sunshine will return the Cowboy State thanks to high pressure that is building in over the western half of the state. That will stick with us through Saturday as temperatures climb back up into the upper 80s for most of us and the lower 90s for some other locations. Well, except for Cheyenne. Cheyenne looks to remain very pleasant with a lot of sunshine but temperatures topping off in the mid 80s for Saturday, which will be the warmest day over the weekend thanks to rain chances that look to be climbing in the southeastern part of Wyoming for Sunday.
