Remembering Our Fallen Heroes Tribute Towers on display at Casper College
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Remember Our Fallen Tribute Towers are on display at Casper College. The travelling memorial arrived in Casper Sunday and opened Monday.
The 9-day exhibit kicked-off with an opening ceremony Monday. Speakers included Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon and local Gold Star Mother Megan Schafer.
In total, there are about 30 10-foot tall towers. They display pictures of American soldiers who have died in combat since the 9-11 attacks.
“It is a pictorial memorial in that we have asked the families to give us a picture of their hero in their military uniform and then we have an inset picture of them loving life and loving a hobby,” Remembering Our Fallen spokesperson Noala Fritz said.
In addition to sharing the stories of these fallen heroes, Fritz sees her son Jacob’s photo on the wall. Jacob Fritz was killed in 2007 serving in Iraq.
She said she got involved in the memorial to honor and celebrate her son’s life.
“I mourned,” Fritz said. “I’m not going to lie, I mourned for several years and then there came a point where I said mourning is not what I need to do. What I need to do is celebrate their lives.”
The towers are located in a parking lot behind Casper College’s Gateway Building. They’re open 24 hours per day until Aug. 4.
