CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Former Cheyenne East High School volleyball standout, Shae Halls, has committed to Laramie County Community College (LCCC) to continue her volleyball career.

“I just really wanted to stay home for a while my first couple of years, that’s why I chose a community college because I have been home schooled since fifth grade,” Halls said.

After starting her high school career at Burns High School for her freshman year, she decided to transfer to East to be coached by Dan Box.

“I really wanted to learn from him [Dan Box],” Halls said. “He has so much knowledge about volleyball.”

Box stepped down from varsity head coach after Halls’ freshman season, coaching the JV team. She played JV her sophomore year at East.

Last season, the 5′6 Halls helped the lady T-Birds to a 4A East Regional Title and was named the top server on her team. During that season, she recorded 60 kills, 10 total blocks, 71 digs, and 26 aces.

“My time there [East HS] helped me grow in a lot of ways. We all worked together and we all had great chemistry.”

She has expressed what she is looking forward to once she puts on the blue and gold, being able to call herself a Golden Eagle.

"I never stop, I'm trying to improve myself if it's passing, serving, whatever they need me for I will be ready for it."

Halls plans on majoring as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), which was another reason why she chose LCCC.
