LCCC Women’s Volleyball embraces Spring start
Now that Fall contact sports have a starting date in sight, the Lady Golden Eagles are in prime position to prepare finish top of division.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Just a week ago, the National Junior College Atheltic Association released its plan of action for 2020 Fall contact sports. The NJCAA announced it would delay the start of fall Sports to the Spring of 2021.
Junior college programs across the land have to find more ways to keep players engaged during the extended offseason. LCCC Women’s Volleyball Coach says she sees the underline benefits to the plan of playing fall sports in the Springtime.
“For the most part I’m happy we made the change to a spring season, I think the biggest concern is making sure the morale stays up, being off for so long.”
Due to the lasting effects of COVID-19, training regiments have must be altered for all student-athletes. LCCC’s Coach Keri Coats believes her team is adjusting with the times.
“We do have one of the exercise science teachers working with our group on that it’s been awesome, that she has a summer program the girls have followed. They are lifting, and how fast they are running are just the little ways to keep that spirit up because that’s what we’re going to need to carry us into the now winter and spring season.”
Now that Fall contact sports have a starting date in sight, the Golden Eagles are in prime position to prepare for a season. Coach Coats believes her Lady Golden Eagles have the team in place to finish at the top of their division ahead of the conference tournament.
