CFD Dandies 50th celebration put on hold
2020 marks the 50th year of Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandies.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - No Frontier Days and No Daddy of them All Rodeo, in the year 2020, forces a local group prominently featured during the CFD shows, watches the celebration of its 50th year in existence shelved.
“Unfortunately, because of the effects of COVID, we’re unable to do that this year, so we’ve postponed the festivities for next year on the 125th anniversary of Cheyenne Frontier Days.”
The Dandies of Wyoming had plans for a golden 50th. The Daddy of them all Rodeo featured the cowgirls. Many believe the Western Experience is thanks in part to volunteer groups making Cheyenne Frontier Days the attraction it is today.
An Old West Museum Historian says The Dandies represent Cheyenne Frontier Days across nine Mountain Range States. The Dandies will celebrate in 2021, fifty-plus years of Wyoming Tradition for future prestige honors.
“I’m always looking forward to the next group of Dandies are that come Cheyenne Frontier Days because out of their ranks Ms. Frontier and Lady in waiting are usually waiting in the shadows.”
The young ladies and their families donate thousands of community service hours, and their parents sacrifice time and money to support their children’s passion.
“Volunteering to be chaperones and take the kids and the horses on trips. Without the Parents and the kid’s devotion, there would be no Dandies, ad that’s what kept us going the last 50 years.”
