August kicks off in the most classic of ways with the grand finale of the Fremont County Fair. Join in for wiener dog races, laser tag, live music, and more.   If you prefer to be part of something while maintaining a lot of elbow room, join the Fremont Area Road Tour virtual cycling event. Bike wherever you like as you explore the beauty of Wind River Country, log your miles, and earn great gear. Or join the Jurassic Classic Mountain Bike festival to enjoy group rides, trail work, and shenanigans.   You can also get fresh air, exploration, and learn a bit of local history with a small group on treks organized by the Fremont County Museums and Sinks Canyon State Park, as well as on gold mine and ghost town tours of South Pass City State Historic site.

As part of your Wyoming vacation, you have to get your rodeo on in Dubois, attend a Native American dance exhibition in Lander, look to the skies for the Fly-in Aviation Day at Dubois’ airport, join in the last day of the Fremont County Fair in Riverton—or all of the above! Peruse local art or listen to local musicians live—the artistry stretches from one corner of Wind River Country to the other, and so do the opportunities to appreciate it!

August is a favorite month among Wind River Country locals. Make plans to join in and find out why.
