Mouthful Owner talks about temporary closure and search for new home
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Mouthful was seeing some of its busiest days when restaurants were forced into takeout and delivery service only due to the pandemic. But owner, Tyler Wood, said it wasn’t enough to sustain his restaurant for the long run.
“Everyone was so unsure of what’s going on. Product supply went down, it was hard to find beef, beef went out the roof with cost, paper products were hard to get, sanitizer to keep the restaurant clean, two per code, was almost untouchable to find,” said Wood.
Wood ended up having to lay off all of his employees. He said they were all understanding but it was still one of the hardest things he’s had to do as a business owner.
“Just letting the team down is more or less what it felt like. It took awhile, a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of conversations with myself, with mentors, with my wife,” said Wood.
Mouthful used to be located inside the kitchen at Gruner Brothers Brewing. Wood said they could not sustain the lease while they were closed. He also said being the owner of another business has not only kept him financially stable, but the last few months he’s been able to focus on Mouthful’s future.
“It keeps our family afloat, while I can sit around and watch for the perfect location for Mouthful to be successful,” said Wood.
Though Mouthful has been closed, Wood said he’s felt the community’s support.
“It gives me goosebumps cause it’s honestly what it’s all about. It’s about the friendships, the bonds that you build over eating burgers and fries, and just building that in your brand,” said Wood.
Wood has been searching for the right new location for Mouthful for the last few months. He said he has narrowed it down to two locations in downtown Casper. Wood said that the community should stay tuned because they will be posting on Mouthful’s Facebook page to give the community a chance to voice which location they like best.
“Once we do get into either location, you guys will be a part of every part of it from the buildup cause both locations are empty shells,” said Wood.
Mouthful is still temporarily closed for the time being but keep a close eye on its Facebook for updates.
