Natrona County library goes fine-free
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Natrona County Library is not charging any fines for late materials.
Lisa Scroggins, the executive director, said the possibility of fines can turn people away from using important resources the library has.
She added they chose to remove them because any type of fine could be a burden to a family.
They are excited to join other fine free libraries in Wyoming and the United States.
“Eliminating fines usually gets more of our items back in and allows the patrons in the community to feel better about using the collection the public library has,” Scroggins said.
However, if patrons lose or damage the materials, they have to pay for it.
