Over 100 nonprofits participating in Wyo Gives
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -The warehouse at Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies is stacked almost to the ceiling. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the director says their needs have increased.
Wyo Gives is giving Wyomingites an opportunity to donate to hundreds of nonprofits statewide. Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies is one of them.
“We hope to advance with the gifts that come from Wyoming people,” said Tony Woodell, WFBR director.
Woodell adds they are also a sponsor of Wyo Gives and is glad he can partner with other nonprofits statewide.
“We felt like showing good stewardship of our money by sharing that wealth with the entire state and network of partners we deal with. It’s a good use of Wyoming dollars,” Woodell said.
Special Olympics Wyoming is another statewide nonprofit hoping to get some funds even though they hope to make some changes to how events are done.
“We are looking at bringing events closer and closer to local communities. That brings a new set of expenses in that we haven’t anticipated,” said Priscilla Dowse, Special Olympics Wyoming President and CEO.
Dowse added there are 1,700 athletes between all 23 counties in Wyoming and hopes to bring them together safely.
“We are looking at maybe providing awards for athletes at a local competition where they haven’t had that before,” Dowse said.
