CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) opened the city’s first pocket park Friday.

The park is located in the alley behind the Paramount Cafe between Capitol Avenue and 17th Street.

The pocket park has picnic tables and plants. People can sit and relax and enjoy a meal. Entry is free.

Tables are spaced far enough apart to allow for adequate social distancing.

“It’s a weird time and so that ability to be able to gather as a community while maintaining those socially distant guidelines and following those rules, it’s a great way to kind of do that and foster that community togetherness,” Cheyenne DDA Marketing and Events Director Haylee Chenchar said.

She said there are currently no plans to open another pocket park in Cheyenne.
