Firearms training class offered in virtual, in-person session
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - An online firearms course is set for this weekend in Cheyenne.
WYO Defense, a firearms-training company in Wyoming, is putting together a virtual webinar for its class on July 11.
“It came up because of COVID-19; we decided [to do it] since we’d been getting quite a few requests for the course,” says Steve Allred, the owner of WYO Defense. “We wanted to still be able to accommodate our clients, and so we went to this online webinar-type training.”
The course will cover topics such as state law and range safety, and participants can use the course to satisfy state concealed-carry permit requirements.
This weekend will also mark the company’s reintroduction of the class’s shooting portion.
“The shooting portion is still available to all of our clients,” Allred says. “We just kinda set it up a little bit differently and at a different time than we normally have in the past.”
The course – including both online and shooting portions – costs $100 to participate, and participants are required to be at least 16 years of age.
Allred adds that WYO Defense will be trying to host a free concealed-carry course for first responders.
“And by first responders, I mean I’m going to allow anyone: EMT, search and rescue, fire department, law enforcement if they want to, P.E. teachers,” lists Allred. “And that’s going to be 100 percent free. We’re just trying to give back a little where we can.”
While WYO Defense’s July 11 class is already at capacity, you can sign up and register for future classes or find more information on the company’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WyomingFirearmsTraining/.
